Welcoming Cara Jackson to Ellevated Outcomes
Hello and happy 2024! I’m starting this year with an announcement that I’ve been sandbagging for a couple months because… Well, when you’ve been waiting a couple years for something to be true, what’s two more months? So at long last, I share: Cara Jackson has joined our team!
You’ve probably heard the adage “hire slow and fire fast.” Always trying to be transparent and hold the mirror up, I must admit: I’ve had my own shortcomings with the latter (many bosses do; it’s so hard). But I feel content – and dare I say – proud of – this instance of hiring slow.
I’ve been watching Cara for the past five years. Then, two years ago, I finally got the courage to contact her directly. We had dinner, and the conversation naturally flowed to the possibility of working together. But in the end, the time wasn’t right, so I simply stayed in touch. Every time we spoke, she shared instances about her work experience that gave me a different perspective on Ellevated Outcomes. Also, she always asked me specific, penetrating questions unlike anyone else and became a generous center of influence, sending us new clients.
Many of you will already know her. But for those who don’t, please allow me to introduce our newest Strategist Cara Jackson…
Cara is a well-known, attention-commanding lawyer and business manager in the Nashville Creative market. She began her career in NYC at Rodale Inc, working in corporate communications, business development, and business affairs.
In 2007, Cara relocated to Nashville to work at Bass, Berry & Sims as an associate in the Intellectual Property & Technology Group, where she counseled start-ups to publicly traded companies on IP matters. She later transitioned into a business development and strategic role with the firm, as the Managing Director for the Corporate & Securities Practice. She later went on to practice law at CAA and Hello Fresh.
In 2015, Cara jumped into entrepreneurship, launching a business management firm for creative businesses. She managed a portfolio of 40+ clients, whose needs ranged from business formation and capital raising, to building infrastructure and streamlining processes.
Cara studied English at Vanderbilt University, then earned her J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in NYC. She is practices law in New York and Tennessee.
She spends most of her time, professionally and personally, supporting the arts and creative community. She’s served as President of the Board of Directors for the Nashville Opera and on the Board of Ten Thousand Villages.
A former New Yorker and East Nashvillian, these days you can find her living in Brentwood (a bit reluctantly). However, she’s found the upsides of suburban life to be: plenty of space for her husband, sweet old dog, and room to exercise her love for interior design. When she’s not dreaming up new designs for her home, you can find her shopping, spending time in the mountains of NC, and getting lost in cult documentaries.
Her strategy superpowers are Legal & Business Development.
Cara, welcome. We are so happy to have you.
