We’re Hiring a Strategist (experienced Leadership Coach)
If you know me, you know that I always have my eyes open for talented, interesting people. In fact, it’s not unlike me to tell someone I admire: “Please let me know if you’d ever consider joining our team – even if it’s years down the line. We’ll be here!” But more immediately, we have a Strategist job to fill, sooner rather than later. So if you know someone who’d be a great fit to join us in the next couple months, please peek at this Strategist job description. We always target Strategists with a specific “superpower;” and right now, we’re looking for someone who has experience as a leadership coach.
Who We Are: Small Business Advisors
The vision for Ellevated Outcomes has always been: become the world’s most sought-after advisor for small businesses, who contribute to the economy with intention. We are currently a team of 4 women with an impressively sophisticated technical skillset, and we’re fun and approachable IRL, if I do say so myself ; ) We are looking for our newest Strategist, who will help grow our business 35-40% in 2024.
We choose colleagues who have deep emotional intelligence, a technical strategy superpower, and a genuine desire to help others. Because our team is small, it’s also imperative that those we bring in, enhance our culture with their emotional maturity. This means: they’ve weathered highs and lows in career (and life) and can enhance others’ experiences with perspective: understanding that opportunity lies on the other side of tough moments and learning pits.
We May Be for You, if You’re a Business Coach for Entrepreneurs or a Small Business Consultant
Perhaps you’re a recovering consultant, looking for meaningful and measurable impact on clients’ businesses (and lives!) instead of PowerPoint presentations with great ideas that sit untouched.
Or maybe you’re a trained leadership coach or consultant, and you want to continue helping others keep while exercising your entrepreneurial spirit, but you don’t want all the hustle and responsibility sitting on your shoulders. You’d value:
- Support for having a life outside work;
- Brilliant, boundary-pushing, and caring teammates who can help you go further than you will on your own; and
- Stability (framework to follow, steady paycheck, and benefits).
You’ve had career and life experiences to know what you want in your next (perhaps final) career phase, including: strengths and skills you want to exercise, as well as attributes and invisible scripts from your history to unlearn and leave behind. Your greatest motivation is doing exceptional work with exceptional people. You want to see the impact you’re making.
What Does a Small Business Strategist Do?
A Strategist at Ellevated Outcomes acts as an outsourced chief strategy officer, serving a portfolio of 10-15 small business clients (solopreneurs to 25 employees). As a Strategist, your goal is to take our clients’ businesses to the next level. This means that over of a year+ engagement, you’ll use the Ellevated Outcomes FrameworkTM to:
- Help a client articulate their business’s optimal growth point;
- Design a custom strategy to get them there, most efficiently and effectively;
- Execute the strategy with them, side-by-side.
We attract clients who are creative, human-first, and often intuition-based in how they view business, the world, and change. Alongside the outcomes we achieve for clients, our chemistry and connection with them matters deeply and sets us apart from the competition. We sell education, but clients buy our experience. This role is also responsible for attracting new clients and delighting current clients so much that they can’t help but refer others.
Why We’re Looking for a Leadership Coach, and Other Important Qualities
Our programming and services are structured for long-term and sustainable small business growth; and therefore, many clients remain in our portfolio for years (this is our hope, in fact!). Thus, part of our role in a client’s several growth points is to guide them through significant change, both in their organization and within themselves, as leaders and humans.
At its core, our work is change management. And as John Kotter says (the literal author of change management):
Management is a set of processes that can keep a complicated system of people and technology running smoothly…
Leadership is a set of processes that creates organizations in the first place or adapts them to significantly changing circumstances…
Successful transformation is 70 to 90 percent leadership and only 10 to 30 percent management.
In addition, you should be…
- Strategic and analytical (big picture and roll up your sleeves to execute)
- Empathetic with high emotional intelligence
- Exceptionally organized; you’re great at prioritizing and organizing yourself
- Curious; you ask lots of questions and get to the heart of the matter
- Skilled at facilitating personal, yet productive meetings
- Able to simplify and reverse-engineer ideas into numbers and bite-sized actions
- Proactive and have a plan, yet can adjust to curveballs
- Humble in learning, unlearning, and relearning
- Emotionally durable, able to withstand Learning Pits
- Living a dynamic, interesting life, and are involved in your respective communities. You have a distinct personal brand that attracts people to you, including colleagues and (new) clients
