We’re Hiring a Strategist (experience in 2+ Business Functions)
Exactly two weeks ago, I had an epiphany. An epiphany that’s been over SEVEN YEARS in the making. Only now, in 2025, has our entire business model – externally and internally – achieved product-market-people fit. And I realize: this statement may surprise some people. So allow me to explain.
We achieved product-market fit pretty quickly. You’ve heard me talk about my technical background and experience in rolling out products/services in new markets. I did the thing I know how to do, so that deserves what? A bronze star at best ; )
But Ellevated Outcomes has never been solely about what we sell. It’s been about the imprint – the ripples – we are trying to make on the small business world: doing exceptional, integrous, world-class work; in a generous, inclusive, experiential way.

In other words: we want to be one of the most technically sophisticated businesses in the external market; AND internally, we want to care deeply about our people, embrace generosity among each other, and foster an environment that holds everyone to excellence.
But if you reflect on this, how many businesses do you know that have achieved this? I don’t know (m)any. Most businesses that are technically exceptional have a culture that’s too cutthroat, for my taste (been there, done that). Yet on the flipside: those businesses known for having a feel-good culture have a meh or maybe a good product. But not an exceptional one. I want both.
So when I envisioned Ellevated Outcomes, I dreamed of a place where we could find the cross-over between the two: excellence in product and thoughtfulness in culture.
And I stand before you today- proud, overwhelmed, and humbled to declare: after seven years, we have found the precious and delicate balance between the two. And now, it’s time to pour gasoline onto our little Ellevated Outcomes rocketship (with intention).
With all that being said… we’re hiring.
Who We Are: Small Business Advisors
The vision for Ellevated Outcomes has always been: become the world’s most sought-after advisor for small businesses, who contribute to the economy with intention. We are a sophisticated, rigorously run, small team, doing interesting and impressive work. We each care deeply about the work we do, the clients for whom we do it, and one another as teammates.
We’ve become fond of saying: “We’re on a rocket ship with intention,” and we’re looking for our newest Strategist, who will add fuel to our 2025 growth of 30-50%.
We choose colleagues who have deep emotional intelligence, a technical strategy superpower, and a genuine desire to help others. Because our team is small, it’s also imperative that those we invite in, will enhance our culture with their emotional maturity. This means: they’ve weathered highs and lows in career and life; and can enhance others’ experiences with: perspective, understanding that opportunity lies on the other side of tough moments, and weathering learning pits with grace.
We May Be for You, if You’ve Operated a Business or Worked in 2+ Business Functions
Perhaps you’ve been responsible for operating a business (unit), or you’ve worked across multiple functions/specialties throughout your career. You’re seeking a more strategic role, where you can pull diverse technical skills together and remain engaged and on your toes, as you achieve deep and tangible impact across a portfolio of clients.
You’d value:
- Marrying hard work with measurable, direct, human-to-human impact.
- Support for having a life outside work.
- Brilliant, boundary-pushing, and caring teammates who can help you go further than you will on your own.
- Benefit of a “coaching”-like career with stability, autonomy, and flexibility.
- Seeing, feeling, and experiencing the real, tangible impact of your work, internally and externally, every day.
You’ve had career and life experiences to know what you want in your next career phase, including: strengths and skills you want to exercise, as well as attributes and invisible scripts from your history to unlearn and leave behind. Your greatest motivation is doing exceptional work with exceptional people, to benefit other exceptional people. You want to see the impact you’re making, and you want to find a home to grow your career.
What Does a Small Business Strategist Do?
A Strategist at Ellevated Outcomes acts as an outsourced chief strategy officer, generating and serving a portfolio of 15 small business clients (solopreneurs to 25 employees). As a Strategist, your goal is to take our clients’ businesses to the next level. This means that over the course of a year+ engagement, you’ll use the Ellevated Outcomes FrameworkTM to:
- Help a client articulate their business’s optimal growth point;
- Design a custom strategy to get them there, most efficiently and effectively;
- Execute the strategy with them, side-by-side.
We attract clients who are creative, human-first, and often intuition-based in how they view business, the world, and change. Alongside the outcomes we achieve for clients, our chemistry and connection with them matter deeply, and set us apart from the competition. We sell education, but clients buy our experience. This role is responsible for delighting current clients so much that they stay with us year after year, and can’t help but refer other new clients.
This role is also responsible for business development, alongside the rest of our Client Strategists. You’ll be expected to grow our portfolio by engaging with your community, leveraging relationships, and developing new connections—even if that’s a little new at first. We don’t expect you to figure this out alone. We provide training, tools, and team collaboration to help you build confidence in relational business development. The goal isn’t cold selling—it’s about helping the fantastic people in your orbit connect to the value we offer.
Why We’re Looking for a Specific & Generalist Skillset, and Other Important Qualities
Our services focus on long-term, sustainable small business growth, with most clients staying in our portfolio for years. As Strategists, we guide clients through significant organizational and personal growth and change. Those with the experience of operating a business (unit) should deeply know 2-3 business functions and be skilled in – or desiring to grow – their ability to put these “puzzle pieces” together, to form a strategy and drive a small business forward. This breadth of experience is key to effectively serving both our clients and our team at Ellevated Outcomes.
In addition, you should be…
- Strategic and analytical (big picture and roll up your sleeves to execute)
- Empathetic with high emotional intelligence
- Exceptionally organized; you’re great at prioritizing and organizing yourself
- An excellent written, verbal, and numbers-communicator
- Unafraid and skilled on the phone
- Curious; you ask lots of questions and get to the heart of the matter
- Skilled at facilitating personal, yet productive meetings
- Able to simplify and reverse-engineer ideas into numbers and bite-sized actions
- Proactive and have a plan, yet can adjust to curveballs
- Humble in learning, unlearning, and relearning
- Self-aware and emotionally durable, able to withstand Learning Pits (you’ll likely hit one in your first 3 – 6 months at Ellevated Outcomes!)
- Living a dynamic, interesting life, and are involved in your respective communities. You have a distinct personal brand that attracts people to you, including colleagues and (new) clients.
- Excited to share Ellevated Outcomes with your network to help the fantastic people you attract. We believe the best business development comes from genuine connections.
How to Apply
Please send the following to letsworktogether@ellevatedoutcomes.com using the subject line “Client Strategist Application”:
1. Resume
2. Example of a strategic body of work that you’ve delivered to a client or organization (feel free to omit confidential information). Examples include:
- A strategy deck created for a company you worked with (e.g., growth roadmap, market positioning, or operational overhaul).
- A business or operational playbook you developed.
- A cross-functional or client communication example that demonstrates how you distill complex ideas into actionable insights.
3. An introduction to you, e.g. cover letter, video, or other media; show us who you are and your personal brand
Please note that incomplete submissions will not receive a response.
This is a remote position. We do the majority of our internal and external work virtually. However, making time to connect IRL with clients, colleagues, and centers of influence is an important part of the personal experience we create.
We’re especially excited about candidates living outside of Nashville in growing secondary US cities (Austin, Charlotte, Dallas, Denver, Raleigh, and Salt Lake City to name a few). Nashville applicants may still apply and will be seriously considered, as always.
The target start date for our new Strategist is in May of 2025. However, we know that we make the best hires when we’ve made time to really know each other. Before we commit to one another, we want to know your strengths and weaknesses, and we want you to know ours. The chemistry and flow of our current team is precious; and we won’t jeopardize the integrity of what we currently have, to achieve a growth goal.
We can’t wait to hear from you, and your friends, family, or colleagues!
